Office Update Installation Engine

I have Microsoft Office 2003 Student and Teacher Edition, and I have Windows
XP Media Center Edition SP2 . It worked well (Outlook, Excel and Word) for
4-5 months on my Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop. Then, none of the applications
worked. I reinstalled Office and same problem persists. For example,
Outlook opens but incoming emails aren't processed - the computer just goes
into idle mode with no error message (dislay indicates 50% complete and
doesn't change, and no emails are received). I tried to dowload the Office
Update Installation Engine and got a similar result - display indicates that
10% has been downloaded and never chages. Again, no error message. I have
no problem accessing the internet. I am able to use my email with no
promblem when I access Roadrunner thru work, so it must be my computer.
Please help.

Try closing\Disabling you Antivirus email scanner. It is only another layer and is redundant. You will still be protected.

Have you done all the Microsoft updates on your computer. There are some new
ones out there.
They have one for office that might fix your problem. Do you have yahoo for
mail? Go to their mail box and look and see what the problem with it is. It
might just be the Net mailbox. Try it.
