With MS' integration of their communications capabilities, required software,
etc. and the O/S I think it would be beneficial to both the customer and MS
to change the "OFFICE UPDATE" to be more cohesive or "just like" the MS
WINDOWS UPDATE programming and GUI. You could just add Office Updates to the
Automatic Updates function in the OS and the option in the control panel or
just have MS check for both OFFICE updates as well as OS updats when a user
clicks on Windows Update, either way it wouldn't be a hard thing for you to
do and would increase security as well as lessen blame placed on MS and
improve the overall security of the system as a whole.
I've been testing a theory of mine about OS programming and protection
against the large amount of hacks, be it viruses or actuall hackers out there
and have come to a simple conclusion to "MOST" problems at the end-user level
and that is one your company has professed and I've agreed with for years.
Keep your OS and applications up to date and you lessen your susceptibility
to simple problems and basically eliminate a factor in the troubleshooting
matrix by maintaining a dedication to that process.
SO THINK ABOUT IT!!!!!
Outlook and XP/SERVER environments are so bound to eachother these days that
I'm amazed you haven't seen this issue prior to my suggestion! Thanks for
your time
