Office Update is unable to check for updates - what should I do?

Onion,
Please post more information,
Such as you Windows version and SP level.
Your Offfice version, XP, 2003, 97, 2000 and SP level associated.
This is relevant for anyone to provide you with a suggestion or an answer.
