Office Update is unable to check for updates.

I get this message. Have upgraded to Office 2003, but still cannot check for
updates. Help!

I have a similar problem, which I cannot figure out, with Office XP. When I
execute check for updates, it progresses about 40% and then stops responding.
I have to end task to do anything. Otherwise I get an hourglass cursor that
remains. This occurred after downloading Service Pack 3(SP3). The wizard
could not find a file. When I tried to input the CD Rom I made a typo in the
path. The SP3 downloaded, I manually installed it but I cannot use the "Check
for Updates" feature anymore. Please let me know if you solve your problem.
