Office Update problems?

Bernie

I'm using Windows XP SP2 and IE 6.0 with Windows Update added to my trusted
zone and the trusted zone set to default settings.
Windows update says I'm using an unsupported browser and sorry, the office
update site does not support Office for Mac and to get updates for Office
for the Mac go to Mactopia.
The check for updates link doesn't work.
When I click on more info I'm told they are aware of a problem with
supported browsers and sorry for the inconvenience.
I'm guessing this might be a SP2 related problem.
Any idea as to when this might get fixed?

Hi Bernie,

Some firewall and Tweak products 'spoof' the browser
type information so that the update sites will get false
readings. If you have a 3rd party product of that type
change the settings or try shutting it down while visiting
the Office update site.

I have NIS installed, however it's set to allow browser identification as
default and I made sure the Office Update site was added to the list with
allow everything. Disabling NIS does not help either.
I figured this might be the problem, but I haven't been able to figure out
what might be doing this.
