Office Update quits at about 40%

I am running XP Pro and Office 2000. I went to the Office update page and
the automatic update quits at 40%. I did find the MS article 304498 which
describes the problem and gives you steps to correct it. I tried each step
in order and got to step three which told me to delete the "Officeupdate11"
file. I did so and tried to update again and now I get an IE warning
"Ident.cab" has an unknown publisher and IE refuses to download it from MS.
Any ideas?

There are seven methods listed in http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=304498 .
The instructions say to attempt each method in the order presented, and
after you complete each method, try to update Microsoft Office by using
Office Update. It appears that you have only attempted the first three
methods?

garfield-n-odie,

The download worked today as described in the third method. Somebody must
have put the digital signature back on the .cab file to make it work, and
that resolved the problem.

Thanks for the help.
