Office update requires cd-rom i don't have it

Hi,

I was having problems with Word and sent a report to Microsoft. A page came
up saying that this was a common problem and to update Office to correct it.
When I try to update with SR-1a it gets to a certain stage when it asks for
the CD-Rom, even though under options I clicked for the larger files to do
away with the need for the cd-rom. I looked at the trouble-shooting, and
followed 5 suggestions but none worked. I got this computer already set up. I
have the Windows XP disc which includes Service Pack 1a and also the Service
Pack 2 cd. I've tried putting both of those in but the file requested,
DATA1.msi doesn't appear to be on either. How can I update my Office program?

For that version of office, you must have the original cd.

That's great isn't it! Not! This is a legit program and I can't update it.
That has really annoyed me now.
