Office Update Site Thinks I need XP SP1 but already have it!

Gary

My new Dell came preinstalled with Office XP SP1. When I
go the OfficeUpdate site, it says I need SP1. I
downloaded SP2 and tried to install it, but it gave me an
error that the expected version of the product was not
found.

Did you install any other versions of Office XP programs, such as Publisher
2002 or Visio 2002? How about Front Page 2002?

Yes; I installed FrontPage which was an upgrade, and I
had to pop in two prvios version of Office to get it to
work.

That is what it is asking to upgrade or patch.

Hi Gary,

If you still have FrontPage 2002 or other Office XP
family app then there isn't anything to 'fix' :)
Office Online will suggest the updates for that version
as well as updates for Office 2003.

========
So how do I fix that?

Hi Gary,

In your previous post you mentioned installing
FrontPage upgrade. Are there any 2002 series
apps listed in Add/Remove Programs in the
Windows Control Panel?

Hi Gary,

Publisher 2002, if installed after Office XP was updated
with SP1 will not inherit Office XP SP1 and you would
need to apply it again to bring the separately installed
Publisher 2002 up to SP1 level as well (the SP1 in
Help=>About) is not accurate in that scenario.
