Office update Sr-1, 2 or 3?/ Delete temp files? Help, please.

Vic Santos

My OS is W98SE. In Control Panel is Office 2000 Sr-1 Pro.
Is it safe delete all files in C:\Windows\Temp?
p.e .sr1patch, Hotfix, *.log, ...Msi.log, ...Setup
(000...).txt, ...MsiExec.txt? (Some of them are big, one
*.txt file has 10MB).
If not, I'll have to do another question after your reply
(to not burn your space and time now).
I'm seeing in your newsgroup about Sr-2 and Sr-3. Can I
update my Office to this levels?
Thanks and best regards.

Hi Vic,

If you have all apps and utilities shutdown then
it is safe to delete files in your Windows Temp folder.

You can determine the updates you need for Office through
http://office.microsoft.com/productupdates and use the
automatice installer support there or manually download
the updates from http://office.microsoft.com/downloads
and install them offline.

For MS Office the difference between an SR (service release)
and a service pack (SP) is that a Service Release is available
both in a download form and as part of a replacement CD set
for that version of MS Office. A service pack is a set of
add-on/patches and no new Office CD is released by Microsoft.
