Office update vs Microsoft update, which is correct?

Hi,

I created an office 2003 install folder on my network and slipstreamed
SP2 administrative version. I used this:
http://www.petri.co.il/office_system_2003_sp_slipstreaming.htm
as a guideline. I also slipstreamed 3 updates that were missing as per
the micrsoft update site. (KB905648, KB892843, KB907417) After
installing on a workstation, Microsoft update showed I still needed to
update these 3 items. I then went to the officeupdate site and did a
scan for updates and it came back with none needed. My question is,
which site do I believe? I re-did the office install folder twice just
to makes sure I didn't miss anything the first time around. Same
results. I also installed on another machine just to make sure and
again same results.

Can someone shed some light on this?

Thanks

Jody

Microsoft Updates (more correctly, the Windows Update Agent), /cannot/
properly see Office updates that have been installed from an Administrative
Installation Point. Therefore, they can be misreported.

The Office Updates site, however, uses a different scanning technology,
designed specific to Office installations, and will be able to properly
detect all installed updates.

In this case, knowing that you installed the updates in the AIP, and
receiving confirmation via Office Updates, and knowing that there are issues
with the WUA and Office AIPs (see http://www.wsuswiki.com/officeaips for
more information), you should believe Office Updates and your own personal
knowledge.
