Office update wants to install Word 2000 update

After Upgrading to Office 2003, (Chose to Uninstall Office 2000 as part of
upgrade) I checked for updates on the MS Office Site.

The Site keeps insisting on the need for a Word 2000 Security update.

If I choose to install this update even though it is now Word 2003 on my
computer is it going to mess up Word 2003. Otherwise is there a way to hide
this update as there is on the regular windows update site?

Thanks
Andrew

Hi, Andrew,

The update tool uses the Windows Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs list to
see what Office apps are installed. If you had Works installed, it came
with Word 2000 standalone, and it may be that the installer is looking for
that CD.

You could uninstall Word 2000 from the Control Panel and that should resolve
the issue.

Thanks Susan,

My previous installation was the Full Office 2000 Premium Edition and not
Works.

After upgrading to Office 2003 Small Business; Office 2000 still shows up in
the Add/Remove Programs and I am concerned that if I remove it there it will
actually remove portions the Office 2003 Edition ... Since Office 2003 SBE is
also listed in Add/Remove programs can I safely remove the Office 2000 still
listed in Add/Remove Programs without affecting 2003.

Thanks,
Andrew Mitchell

Removing Office 2000 will not affect office 2003. You can safely remove it.
You will need the original CD to uninstall it, however.
