office update

trying to use office update, unsuccessfully. office 2003 came preloaded with
computer and I have no access to product cd. I downloaded kb842532 fullfile
exe okay ,but as it is installing it says a file is missing ( sku119.cab).
without the product cd , how can I now get the office 2003 update to work,

Hi Ron,

PC suppliers that have licensed products are required
to provide the original product CD for Office 2003
when including it with the computer. You can contact
the PC supplier but you may also want to contact
Microsoft (800) 360-7561 in the U.S. about obtaining
a replacement CD if the PC supplier won't provide it.

SKUxxx.CAB missing messages often indicate a damaged
Local Install Store (LIS) location of the Office files
on your hard drive which would usually require the
product CD to repair.

I receive the same message: sku119.cab is missing.We let each other if we can
solve the problem.

dear bob , I understand what you are saying.the company I got the comp from
do not deal in computers anymore and it is a bit expensive to call the usa
from australia.
short of having to get office again is there any other way , without the cd,
I can download the requred file,

after alot of phone calls I finally have the product cd.
thats the good news. even with this cd I still cannot download office sp1.
it still comes up looking for the sku119.cab file which cannot be found on my
computer or on the product cd.I have tried repair and detect to which it
downloaded many cab files but not the one I was after.I have tried the
fullfile exe on the download but it didn't work either.is the only option now
a toatl uninstall to which I have much work attached to, or is there another
way I can get this missing file so I can use the office
update???????????????????

If you have Publisher 2003 on your computer, try inserting the CD for
that when prompted for SKU119.CAB.

thankyou for your reply. the product cd I have has all of the office
programs on one cd. I have also tried the detect and repair option and
reinstalled office pro 2003 but with no changed result. I can download the
sp1 update but it will not install it no matter which way I try to do it.
what happens if I just forget about the sp1 update?
is there somewhere I can download this sku119.cab file. I have other
computers with this program on to which I did a search and clould not find
this file either even though I have the office program and sp1 update running

Okay, since you're not afraid of uninstalling and reinstalling, try this:
1. Download and install the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility from
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=290301 .
2. Click on Start | All Programs | Windows Install Clean Up, and remove
Windows Installer entries related to Office 2003 and any other "2003"
series Microsoft products that appear in the list of installed programs.
3. Click on Start | Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs, and uninstall
Office 2003 and any other "2003" series Microsoft products that appear
in the list of installed programs.
4. Reboot.
5. Reinstall Office 2003 from the CD you have.

I see from the other thread you started on this same subject that my
original suggestion to you to insert the Publisher 2003 CD when prompted
for SKU119.CAB would have solved the problem without having to uninstall
and reinstall, but you chose to disregard my suggestion.

Dear garfield , i did not disregarde your suggestion at all.
the product cd I have for office is one that covers all the office progarams
except for one, and you can guess which one that is. I did not know that
publisher was not on this disc.the discs are apparently different depending
on wether it is the professional edition or the standard edition and this was
not even known by my It man.

I to have microsoft office professional. I have all the files on my computer
but cannot get into them. I do not have a cd the computer was given to my
through the Earmyu program for school. Once you finish your courses the
computer is yours to keep. I have contacted earmyu but they cannot help me. I
have contacted HP and they cannot help me . Any idea how i can get a CD to
reload the program? Also my windows installer will not work either.
