Office Updates: "Cancelled" ... what does it mean?

When an automatic MS Office XP (or other) update proceeds and says
"successful," that gives the wrong impression; when I look on the update
history to find it's status as "cancelled." I am presuming that, if there
were MS Windows updates being processed in the session, those (security)
office updates (in that case) were included in the general XP security update
.... and "cancelled."? This applies to the most recent (16 Jun 06) updates
KB917335, KB916519.

The basic answer/confirmation from review of the logs is that if one runs
Office Update before the general Windows XP Update, the subsequent Windows
Update will go ahead and process all items, including the two redundant ones
mentioned here, "successfully." The history file for Office Updates will have
the two updates OK, and the W/XP Update history file will have these two
noted as cancelled.
