Windows updates give you dialogs indicating what is happening during each
update/hotfix install.
Office updates don't. For example, a recent update [about 380k] was
launched, asked me if I wanted to install the update, and then I got NO
dialogs indicating what was happening. In the "background", a 34Mb process
'ohotfix.exe' was taking ALOT of the CPU, which took a long time to process
[about 5 minutes on a 2GHz Intel box], and then eventually gave a "finished"
dialog.
Why does it take so long to install such a small patch?
and
Why doesn't Microsoft provide better feedback for Office Updates?
