Office updates don't make sense

I have Office 2003 with Service Pack 2 installed. I just received a message
that an automatic update is ready to install. When I opened it, it is
Service Pack 1. I don't understand.

Also, when I searched to see what updates I needed, it said I needed Service
Pack 2.

None of this makes sense.

In Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control panel
check to see if you have more than one '2003' series
product listed. If you installed one after updating
the other previously you can run into this situation.

If you only have one 2003 product listed, see if you can complete
a repair from that choice in Add/Remove Programs. If not then
some of the files used to apply/maintain the patched product
may have been deleted from the cache folder for updates on your PC.
