Office updates

I replaced my hard drive and reinstalled Windows 2000 and
Office Pro 2000, now I cannot install updates to Office -
notice it seems to be a common problem. How do I fix it?

When you say "cannot", what do you mean? You can't get to the page? The
sniffer does not work? The download fails? You get an error about the
installation?

I have same problem. Formatted drive, loaded Windows 98
and Office 2000 Pro, downloaded Windows updates OK,can't
get past 57% point of Office Update Search. Get the
following message (without the asterisks):

***The Office Update Catalog cannot be displayed

The Office Update site is currently experiencing some
technical difficulties and is unable to check for updates.

Click the Try Again link below to try loading the site
again (do not use the Refresh button on your browser to
reload the site).

If problems persist, please contact Microsoft Support for
assistance. You can also search for Office updates in the
Download Catalog.

Try Again ****

Tried a Knowledge Base fix 277923 but that didn't work.

Is the Office Update site really having problems?

FYI My problem went away when I had to format my hard
drive AGAIN because of a virus that attacked Norton AV and
kept opening AOL.
