Until now, I had an imac that ran OS9 and used the microsoft office suite
that came installed on it --Word 98 specifically. I just bought an ibook that
uses OSX. I want to have microsoft word on my new computer, but I am confused
about what I need to buy. Can I just buy the (cheaper) "upgrade?"
I tried installing the older version of Office onto the ibook while running
the Classic environment, but it wouldn't install--which makes me nervous that
buying the upgrade won't work, although the literature says that it is ok for
licensed users of office 98.
I would much rather just buy the upgrade and save a lot of money, if I can
get away with it, but can I?
(I will also note, just in case it matters, that the CD says "Microsoft
Office Standard", not "Microsoft Office 98", although all the stuff on the
imac is Office 98.)
