I currently run Office v.X on my Mac and am unable to open Word documents sent to me with a ".docx" extension. Is there an update available for this?

Thanks,
Bobby

Yes, go to the mactopia site and download the converter. Or, tell whoever is
sending the documents to save them in the older (dc) format.

thanks, is that the Microsoft Office Open XML File Format Converter for Mac 0.2.1 (Beta)? Also, I'm running Microsoft Office v. X Word v. 10.1.4 and I cannot locate the 10.1.9 update to allow me to download the converter. Could you direct me to the 10.1.9 update?

Thanks again,
bobby

Yes, that¹s the converter. I¹m not sure it¹s even available any more as
Office X is an ³end of life² product and no longer supported.

The earlier replies have correctly pointed you to Microsoft's download
site. It seems to work like any other download site: if you can see
what you want you can download it.

According to the download page, to be able to _convert_ files you need
to install the converter on a system running OS 10.4.8 or later.

But it seems that all you need to be able to _use_ the files produced by
the converter is the Office X 10.1.9 update.

We haven't met any .docx files yet, but I expect to convert them on my
OS 10.4.11 system, and pass the resulting files to my wife for her
Office X under OS 10.3.9.
