office v. x updates 10.1.6 and or 10.1.9

I was trying to update my office x with the update 10.1.6 and it would
allow me to start the update, but then when it was installing the
visual basic libraries, it would stop and give me the error "error
creating folder" "1008:9,-43 file not found". In addition, when I tried
to use the 10.1.9 update, it said that I do not have any qualifying
products on my computer. I know that I have office v. x installed,
because update 10.1.6 recognized it. I think that this is a folder
permission issue, but I do not know which folders I need to change. If
at worst, I would like to get entourage x to run the hotmail msn
update. Thanks.

10.1.9 is a combo update, meaning that it contains all the fixes and
improvements included in previous updates. In other words, it is not
necessary to install 10.1.6 first; just run the 10.1.9 updater instead. When
downloading the necessary files from Mactopia, make sure you download the
updater that's appropriate for your version of Office, i.e. the English
updater for an English version, or the German updater for a German version,
etc. The error message you're seeing could be the result of your trying to
update Office with an updater in a different language.

That is really not the problem. update 10.1.6 recognizes the office
installation. However, update 10.1.9 does not recognized the office
installation. In other words 10.1.6 allowed you to define your office
installation and 10.1.9 will in continue if it cannot find the office
installation by its self. I am pretty sure that it is not a language
issue. I know that I have the English versions of the updates, how can
I verify the language edition of office?

Dear [whoever],

I don't want to put you off your mission, but frankly I would not bother to
update Office X at all. OS X has come so far since the beta 10.1 version on
which Office X had to be designed >4 years ago that it's almost a different
operating system now. Problems abound. Licensed copies of Office 2004 are
available cheaply from online auctions and, depending on what country you
live in, good discounts are available from retailers. I recommend you think
seriously about doing that -- especially if your Mac has an Intel chip.

Have a look at the menus in one of the Office applications; if they are in
English, then you have the English version of Office, and the English
updater should work as advertised. If I were you, I'd remove Office using
the Remove Office tool in the Value Pack folder on your Office install disk
and re-install the applications. Having done that, you should be able to
apply the 10.1.9 updater without any problems.

Errors that are close in number to -43 indicate problems with the disk. Run
Disk Utility on the drive and DiskWarrior if you have it.

Check how much free space is available.
