Office Version conflicts

Hi,

I may have conflict problems with Office 2003 SBE. I have just purchased a
new laptop (with OS Vista Home Premium) and installed Office 2003 SBE. In
Outlook I selected to use Word as my email editor. I am having problem in
Word and Outlook as I am unable to highlight with the mouse. (Problem posted
in word on 13-05-09 Mouse Highlighting Problems)

My laptop came with the trial version of Microsoft Office Home & Student
2007, and the highlighting in Word 2007 from this Office is ok.

If I purchase Office Home & student 2007, will I be able to use Word from
this version in Outlook 2003 SBE, or do I have to purchase Outlook 2007 ?

This is my first experience of Vista, and it maybe I have not selected the
correct options in Word from 2003 SBE, although looking at the options they
appear the same.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Well I would start by uninstalling both the Trial and 2003, clearing out
the temp files, re-booting then installing ONLY 2003.
See if that helps.

Gordon Thanks for your reply

I have removed both versions of office, and the Activation Assistant, made
sure there were no office directories in C:\programs, ran Norton 360 V3
cleanup, rebooted, then reinstalled Office 2003. This time I did not import
any settings from the Microsoft save my settings wizard, as my laptop is
Vista and my PC is XP

The original problem remains when using both my new mouse and my old mouse,
I then uninstalled the Logotech software, as the mouse should run basic
functions without installing the software. The new mouse also works and
highlights Word and Outlook documents on my old PC, so I think the problem is
within Office. I am also able to highlight parts of this reply.

I also uninstalled Time Date & Signature from Sperry Software just incase
this caused any conflicts, but the problem still remains.

Are you able to suggest anything else to try.
