Office Vs. Profile

T

Terry Belcher

I recently built a system ghost image, in the process I
took and modified my profile to the way I want the
default users porfile to be. After doing this I copied
my profile over to the default users profile so that any
new user signing on would have the same setup.

Our net work is on a domain, after doing this I notice
that when office files are opend by other users that
Office still assoiciates the file with my user name.

So I have two questions:

1. Why is this?

2. Can it be fixed?

I would appreciate any help in my endevor.
Thank You

Hi Terry,

Your problem is a known one when it comes to deploying Office
via Ghost images.

To overcome this you need to install Office on the Image using
two setup parameters. These can be inserted after the Setup.exe command line
or using the MST you created.

View the following articles:
For Office 2003:
http://www.microsoft.com/office/ork/2003/two/ch5/DepC05.htm
- look specifically for the NoUserName=True

For Office XP:
http://www.microsoft.com/office/ork/xp/one/depb09.htm
- look specifically for the 'Creating a hard-disk image' section

You do need to remember that you can only do this for the
Enterprise version of Office, meaning you need a VLK CD
and VLK CD Key to be able to run Custom Installation Wizard.
This is why you can run these setup parameters on the setup command line
as well, though I haven't tested this on a non-enterprise media.

Hope this gets you through...
