I'm having problems installing KB923272 and KB924424 also. They download and
initialize properly but the install fails. Any chance you're also having
trouble updating Windows Live One Care? I get the same error code when
attempting to run One Care and Windows Update, i. e., # 0x80070652, which is
translated as ERROR_INSTALL_ALREADY_RUNNING ErrorClientUpdateInProgress. I
don't speak the language but it appears the O/S is prevented from updating
the target app because it's already in use. I don't have a list of
dependencies handy but if I can obtain one, do you suppose that closing those
processes included on the list as dependent on the the objects in 923272 and
924424 would allow the installs to complete?

Any help or opinions will be appreciated.

I resolved by unistalling Excel Viewer 2003 and then installing the
original "old" file (Date Published 12/10/2004 from MS website at
http://tinyurl.com/a7lu8) before trying to install the 2 updates.
Details are shown at http://tinyurl.com/yecx5w .

;-) Please let the NGs know if it works.

Good luck,

Let me get this clear.

You installed the beta, reinstalled the older Office (in my case XP) applied
the patch and reinstalled the beta.

I'm not gonna take that long - before I learn whether the reinstall from the
old beta isn't gonna need a whole mess of patches (as it did shortly after I
first installed it) -

Hey, I am retired/self-employed - but I do have a life and while I'm willing
to beta-test - not as a full time job to get Updates.

Office is NOT THAT IMPORTANT to me - so IF I have this sort of nonsense to
look forward to - I'll uninstall the whole shooting match. I have Star Office
and BSD and Open Office if I need to do something badly enough.

I'm POed that I reported this through Windows or Live Update and generated 3
emails within 24 hrs saying 'we are passing the buck' and 3 more in another
24 hrs saying 'look online for beta support' ---- 2 nice enough fellas are
working and that's swell but they are playing with themselves and pissing
away my life with nonsense.

Excuse my language.

Yep just got the hang of this. First time in as same as you all I got all 15
updates the other day and all worked but for KB924424 KB923272 KB923097 AND
KB923088.
Dwijen at the helpdesk asked me to try a fix which in effect removed
c:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution (Renamed it to SDold) then I tried the
updates again. It may work for you but it did not work for me. Good Luck.

Sorry, Max. No joy it continues to fail - so I hid them in Automatic Update
- Custom to prevent the constant prompts. At this point I am considering
uninstalling Office 07 beta entirely (along with Office XP) and living with
Open Source Ofice suite and the readers for PPS and XLS.
