Office Won't work after updates

I installed 6 updates Friday, April 14, and I think all were to Windows, but
I am not sure (was done by automatic update). Anyhow, now my computer will
not open files in Office and the "Save As" function is also inoperative.
Whenever I try to use these two functions, I get a "not responding" message
and then have to control-alt-delete out of the program. My guess is that
somehow one of the updates really screwed things up in Office. Anyone know
anything about this? Does Microsoft know anything about this?
