office wont work

I have a newish PC which was originally loaded with works suite in swedish,
I recently put office home edition 2003 in to replace it as I only really
speak English, all was working well, until yesterday when i had some
upgrades for windows,norton, ect which were a little late as I moved to
canada and had to wait for my PC to arrive. Now I cant open any office
items, there were error messages about "office source" which i tried, they
led me to a repair which made no difference, i tried to load a free office
trial from MS, that wouldnt load, and I had a message about installer patch
not being right. so I tried rebooting XP from months ago when it was all
working well, and still cant open or download any office related thngs any
Ideas ???

thank you for your reply.... I dont seem to have that clean up facility and
i cant access it through search. as that brings up an installer box which
then brings up an error box. and shuts me down .... i think i may have a
registry glitch and i cant run my xp as a repair as everthing is a lot newer
than the disc im completely baffled
