Please let me know if Office and Works can co-exist on
one machine. Also, are the documents, worksheets, DB
files etc. created in one accessible/readable in the
other.

Yes they can co-exist. No it's not straightforward sharing files between
them. Works files usually have to be converted into a more portable format
for Office to read them.
