Doggy

Each time that I'm trying to install these updates, I get
the error 11002:2'-15. Nothing is running even my anti-virus.

Does somebody have an answer.

Thank you

It's been said, and it seems to have worked for me, that you need to have all
internet access disabled.

I'm running into a similiar difficulity while attempting to install
Office X 10.1.2 update -- error msg 11002:2,-14. Nothing else is
running on my system (including the internet). The read me file says
to remove the "Microsoft Component Plugin" file, so I put it on my
desk top and received the error message noted above. I can't install
any of the others until I get this one on!! I already removed Office
X for Mac and reinstalled it -- the same thing was happening before
the reinstall. The reinstall is also suggested in the read me file --
however it didn't work on my system!

Is there some place we can find out what these error messages mean??

Thanks,

Not sure what the error is - if you do a Get Info on the Microsoft
Component Plugin (or an Office app if you've trashed it), what version
is listed?

I didn't trash the plugin. I put it back when the update still
wouldn't work when it was removed. I don't know how to 'Get Info'
(this is my first Mac after many years using PC's . . ), I did click
the 'About Word' in MS Word and it says: "Microsoft Word X for Mac
Service Release 1"

The only difference removing the plugin made was that the error #
listed above appeared (after the plugin was removed).

Before I removed the plugin an error message came up that said I
didn't have Office v X on the system OR I had stopped the update OR
I was using a program that didn't require the update.

At this point, I think Office is in a precarious enough state that you
should to the following:

1) Uninstall Office using the Remove Office application found on your
installation CD's Value Pack folder. Don't just throw the Microsoft
Office X folder away.

2) Reinstall Office

3) Locate the Office Component Plugin and ctrl-click/Get Info to
determine which version of Office you have.

4) Download and run the appropriate updaters from Mactopia Downloads:

http://microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx

If Office version is 1.5 ==> none
If Office version Is 1.4 ==> 1.5
If Office version is 1.2/3 ==> 1.4, 1.5
if Office version is <1.2 ==> 1.2. 1.4. 1.5

5) Reset disk permissions:

Run the Disk Utility application from the Applications:Utilities folder.
Select your disk and choose First Aid/Reset Disk Permissions.

Thanks for so much helpful information.

I am very grateful for the assistance.

The Microsoft Component Plugin -- from 'Get Info': version 10.1.4; It
says it was created July 3, 2003. There's a lot more information
there too!

The copy of Office X was purchased from the campus Mac store where my
daughter attends college. It is a liscensed version and I think it
will only install twice . . . I mention this because I already
uninstalled Office and reinstalled it. The second install gave me a
different product ID than the first one. I used the same key both
times. The uninstall program on the disk did not work and in fact, I
did put the whole folder in the trash.

Now the problem I origionally described was happening prior to the
reinstall in exactly the same manner, so either something was missed
when the uninstall didn't work and I trashed it OR it simply didn't
matter.

If anyone knows if a licensed version can be installed a third time
then I'll be happy to try all this again.

Many thanks.

p.s. I did use the reset permissions and found out in the "read me"
with Office X that the downloads may not work afterward . . . so
when I reinstalled it, I tried runing the update before I reset the
permissions -- no difference.

You can reinstall the software as often as you'd like. The only
restriction is the number of machines it's installed on simultaneously
(i.e., 2 - one a desktop and one a laptop). MS doesn't keep track; in
fact, it has no way of knowing how many times you've installed.

Thank you. I'll let you know if it works. : )
