Office X for Mac suddenly crashes even after reinstall

Version: v.X
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: intel

I'm using OS 10.5.2 and my Office X for Mac, which used to work fine for over a year, suddenly crashes immediately upon opening any application (Word, Excel). I reinstalled the software, but it will still not work.

What is the fix? Apparently some new update has caused a conflict??

Have you applied the 10.1.9 Office update since installing? If Office X is
going to have any chance of running in Leopard that update is absolutely
necessary. Repair Disk Permissions, restart your Mac & see if there's any
improvement.

Same problem. Exactly.

Where can I find the 10.1.9 Office update. Not showing up at MS or on this site...

Thanks!

Thanks, I downloaded 10.1.9 update. Then I repaired permissions and restarted. It still crashes. Word and Excel.

Did you test in a new User? Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User
in Accounts. Switch to the New User by logging out/in or use Fast User
Switching. Test Office there.

Thanks Diane. That seemed to work, but I would rather be able to use Word under my original User account. When I switched back to my original, it still crashes. Am I stuck using Word only in the new user account???

You can troubleshoot your old User's folder.

Quick elimination....Log out/in with Shift key down. This will disable any
startup items. If that works, then just look to the startup items and find
the culprit.

If it's preferences, then use the steps here to troubleshoot:

Troubleshooting Your User Account for a Problem

2. Test for corrupt Microsoft preferences
3. Test for other preference conflicts
4. Test for application conflicts
