Does anyone know if Office X is compatible with Mac OS X Tiger, or do I
have to have Office 2004? Appreciate anybody's help on this one.

Office v.X is perfectly compatible with Mac OS X 10.4; just make sure you
install all the updates from Mactopia <http://www.microsoft.com/mac>. It
should even work fine without all the updates, but you'll definitely have a
better experience when Office is updated all the way to 10.1.6.

When i installed my files on my new G5, rome recent trial version of
office 11.0 was installed.
I removed it but it remains the by default version.
I tried to reinstall the older one but my system keeps office 11.0 as
the application by default to open my files.
How can I change that?

I suppose you did not delete the Office 2004 Test Drive completely; did you
actually use the Remove Office tool that should have been in your Test Drive
folder?

Anyway, to restore the file associations, simply right-click an Office file
(Word, Excel, PowerPoint) in the Finder, select Get Info, and in the Info
window, you should see a panel which reads "Open with:". Select your older
version of the appropriate program, then click on Change All, and that
should solve your problem.
