Hi;

To confirm, the word and vbe dlls for Office 2002 are version 10. But the
Office.dll is version 7.0. Is this correct?

Hi;

I did that - it just struck me as weird that it was version 7 instead of 10
so I figured better to double check.

thanks - dave

Hi;

I think something is wrong with the office version number. Because the ddd
version number for Office 2000 MS09.DLL is 9.0.6926. So I think the version
number for the Office XP (2002) Office PIA is wrong.

Hi

I am sorry I did not understand your meaning very well.
Why do you think the office XP PIA's version is wrong?
What version do you think is the correct one and what version is it now on
your machine?
As we has discussed in another thread, the PIA's version may be different
from the mso.dll's version(they are two different file, in the tlbimp file
there is a switch to change the generated PIA's version)

Hi;

If you look at the version resource for the Office 2000 file MS09.DLL you
can see the version number as set in the file's resources. That number is
9.0.6926. This makes sense as Office 2000 is version 9.x.

If you look at the PIA for office.dll in Office 2003, the PIAs version
number is 11.0.0.0. Again this makes sense as Office 2003 is version 11.x.

However, the Office.dll for Windows XP (2002) has a version number of
7.0.3300.0. This does not make sense as that is a lower number than Office
2000 and Office 2002 is version 10.x.

So I think the Office 2002 PIAs assigned the wrong version number to
office.dll.

Does this make sense?

thanks - dave

Hi

Thank you for your input. I understanding you meaning now.
As we know, the office xp PIA is first offcial PIA, and at that time the
version pattern may have not been determined.
As the office xp has been released, if we change the version now it will
break the running application so far because CLR will check the version of
the dll in the GAC.

Anyway, thank you for your feedback and you may still try to post the
feedback to the mswish website.

Hi;

Can you let whoever created this know of this issue? They may want to issue
a second set of PIAs for future add-ins. This shouldn't break the existing
ones as it is a major version change, is strong named, and it increases the
version number.

thanks - dave
