Office XP 2002 Product Key Invalid

Mike250

Trying to reinstall office XP student & teacher version 2002 on to my
computor after a system restore. Message says product key is invalid. I have
the original CD & the product key from the orange sticker. This was a retail
purchased copy & was installed & working fine prior to the restore. Microsoft
support says the product is beyond it's 5 year lifecycle & they won't support
it - unless I pay $49.95 + tax !!!
How do I reinstall?

Make sure you are entering the correct digits. Bs look like 8s, Ds like 0s,

JoAnne, I am entering the correct digits. I called support & gave them the
key and was told because the product is over 5 years old it is not supported
- unless I email support & pay $49.95 + any taxes - then maybe they will help
me !!!
There is nothing wrong with my software. I have the CD & the jacket with the
product key. I had to reinstall the operating system on my computer &
reinstall all my software. Microsoft office is the only one I am having a
problem with. I should not have to pay to use software I already own. What do
I do?
Thanks, Mike

Do you have any remnants of Office XP left on your computer? If you do use the
CleanUp utility and try installing again.

Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301&Product=off2003

It says 2003 but it works on 2002.
