office XP activation on same PC but new HD

I want to install a new hard drive (HP) with XP pro. on
my Dell 8100
The I want to install my present Office XP on the new HD;
and delete all from my old HD...to get rid of virus and
Microsoft Me which seems to crash too often.I will use the
old HD as a storage device.

Will I have to contact Microsoft to reactivate the Office
XP when it is installed on the same computer but on a new
HD.

Yes, but it sounds like your changes are small enough that it will
still activate over the internet. At worst you have to make a five
minute phone call.
