Office XP and Access

I may have to upgrade to Office XP. I believe the version of access is 2002.
I am currently using access 97 and 2000 and when I convert 97 files to
access 2000 (sometimes with errors) they will not convert back to access 97.
Will access 2002 read access 2000 without having to convert them to 2002?
Thanks in advance.

Yes, as a matter of fact, A2K2 defaults to A2K format. You must manually
switch it to A2K2.

Yes. In fact A2000 format is the default. The only drawback that I
know of is that you must convert to 2002 to create a MDE file.

Note that both A2000 and A2002 have the ability to save a database in
A97 format: Tools... Convert... Save as Previous Version.
