office XP and limited user account

I just installed Office XP Professional on a home PC running Windows XP Prof.
I have one administrator level acct and three limited user acct. I
installed Office in this administrator acct. Activation is done and
everything works fine in this acct. Problem is that when opening office
programs in any of the limited user acct, I see the program configures
something for a while then eventually opens. When closing or saving a file,
the same thing happens. What's interesting is that when I save a word file
for example, it's does not look like a word file. When I clicked it, Wordpad
opens it instead. However, in the administrator acct, it is assigned as a
word file and it works fine.
Reinstallation did not help. I have Norton Security 2006, but I disabled it
when I installed Office. I know someone posted the same problem a month ago.
I wonder if they have this "saved to different file" problem, too. I
remember that Microsoft tried very hard to help but no avail. Any good idea
why this happens?
Thanks.

When you installed the program, did you read the screen instructions
carefully? Did you notice that you had a question which asked for
whether all users on this machine are allowed to use this program or
something similar?

Try again and let us know.

I did what you said. I don't see questions asking for allowing all the users
to use the program. I saw "these programs are run from my computer." That's
all.
I tried to set permission for office "full control" for all the users in the
registry, but still the same problem. It's funny since in the limited user
accounts, I cannot assign the file (saved by MS Word, but opened with
Wordpad) with MS Word. I cannot locate MS Word in the folder options (file
types).
What I am going to try is that I borrow a copy from my friend and install it
on my computer see if it works. I guess it should be fine as long as I
don't activate, right? If it works, my copy of Office is defective. If
still problematic, it's my computer's fault.
