Office XP and SP3 issue

Greetings, a friend has Office XP (2002) on his computer - it came
preinstalled. He rang me to say that he recently tried to update with SP3,
but it asked for an original CD, which of course he didn't have. He decided
to abandon the process, but evertime he boots up, the installation tries to
proceed, prompting him for the CD. Cancelling each time allows him to
continue, but is there any way to remove the failed update? I'm going over
there shortly to try and sort it for him, and picture looking to see if it
acn be simply removed via Add/Remove programmes, or by using system restore,
but any other ideas would be useful

Thanks

The vendor of his computer should have provided a physical CDROM for Office
XP (assuming the Office XP 'pre-installed' is a licensed OEM product).

To obtain a copy of the CDROM, your friend should contact the vendor he
purchased the computer from and request the CD if it was not supplied.

The CD is -required- to install service packs on Office XP. I am unaware of
any method to avoid this with Office XP.
