Hello all,
It seems that MS has opted to 'tone down' the graphics
options automatically upon detection of remote use through
terminal services (RDP or ICA), with Office XP. Office 2K
did not and will not do this. To be explicit: When you run
any office XP app through an ICA or RDP connection and
then try to scroll through the document by dragging the
scroll bar, you will not see the contents of the screen
refresh to match that of what is in the document. Instead,
all you will see is the current page number change as you
scroll. MS believes this is a good thing because it is
less taxing on the terminal server. I however, disagree
because the servers we use are powerful enough to run
Office XP 3D rendered edition if it existed
Being able to see what is in the document in real time as
you scroll is something that even the simplest MS editor,
notepad, does with ease. The real problem here is that MS
has included no way - that I can find - to turn
this "enhancement" off.
Please Please please! If anyone knows of a registry hack
or conf file tweak that can be done to avert this
monstrosity of an "improvement" to the current office
suite, please let me know.
Best regards,
Tony DiMarzio
