Office XP Error Installer Package, cannot repair, remove, nothing

ANytime I try and start any Office XP Programs, it acts
like it is trying to install something then it gives me
Error 1723 something about some required DLL file for the
Install package is corrupt, after that it goes through a
series of these, then eventually it closes with warnings
and all, I cannot do ANYTHING to these programs, I am
running Office XP on windows 98 and it used to work
perfectly well till for some odd reason it stopped. IF you
can PLEASE help me with this it would be a great
blessing!!!!!!
