Office XP Extended Alerts

S

Snoop

I cannot remove the Office XP Extender Alerts from my system as they do not
appear in the add remove programs area. They are still active and when they
are displayed they link to the Microsoft web site that states to use the
"Add Remove Programs" function. I am running Windows XP SP 2 Office XP SP 3.
Any suggestions? Thanks.

Did you look in your Control Panel in Add/Remove Programs to see if it
is listed there? It should be and you should be able to uninstall it.

Are you logged on as the Administrator and/or the user when you installed
Extended Alerts?

If it isn't listed in Add/Remove Programs then I'm not sure where to
point you next. I guess you could see if it's still listed in the
Registry.

In the Registry navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

Expand the branch and you should see several subfolders, each named
with a GUID. Select each one, take a look at the "Display Name" on the
right, and see if you can find one for "Office XP Extended Alerts".

Once found there should be an Uninstall string. Double-click the
value, copy the "Value Data", and paste it in a post so we can take a
look at it.

I searched the entire Registry and could find no references to Office XP
Extended Alerts. This of course included
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall per
your instructions.

Suggestions?

I do know it uses the Windows Installer so it should appear in
Add/Remove Programs. Other than installing it again, so it appears in
Add/Remove Programs, and then uninstalling it I'm out of ideas -
sorry!
