Office XP Install

Jim

I purchased a laptop with Windows Vista in January 2007. I installed my
previously purchased Office XP over the 2007 Trial and I was able to use it
successfully until just recently. For other reasons, I had to uninstall and
reinstall Office XP and now when I try and open Office, Outlook, Excel, or
PowerPoint I get the message: "Microsoft Word has not been installed for the
current user. Please run setup to install the application." When I close it,
the application closes as well.

Any suggestions?

You cannot install an earlier version over a later version.
Uninstall the trial, clear temp files & reboot, then install/repair your
OfficeXP version

Thanks for your reply. I understand what you're saying, but the only Office
2007 items left in Control Panel and their options are:

1- Activation Assistant for the 2007 Microsoft Office suites -- there's no
option to uninstall

2- Business Contact Manager for P1 -- when I try to uninstall it says
"Access denied"

3- Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office system -- option to uninstall or
repair

Any suggestions?

Uninstall compatibility pack

Activation assistant, Is there a shortcut for this on your Desktop, which
you can delete?

IMO if you installed the earlier version, without first uninstalling the
trial, you may well have to revert your PC to its origonal supplied state.
Then uninstall the trial, & any other superflious 'free' apps prior to
installing your version of Office. If taking this route ensure all docs are
backed up (and verified, first)

PS You are aware OfficeXp is not fully compatible with Vista, most notably
Outlook?
