Office XP installation cannot find transform path

Ricardo

The Windows Installer stops with the message ""Error in applying transform.
Verify
that the specified transform paths are valid" immediately after starting
installation of Office XP Professional. Any clue of what is that "transform"
and how I can fix its path will be appreciated.
Some additional info:
- I am installing over Windows XP Home edition, with all updates installed.
- The installation CD comes from my employer, licensed for home
installation.

Un update:
Today I spent about half hour in the phone with Microsoft support on this
issue. Their two suggestions:

1. Copy the installation CD to a new directory and install from
there --- Did not work;
2. Uninstall the installed version of Office (Office 97 Professional)
and try again with Office XP ---> Did not work either.

I would appreciate a reply for anybody who has any additional ideas or
suggestion, .

Thanks,
Ricardo.
