Office XP installer Patch?

Upgraded from Office2000 to XPStandard some months ago
with no problems. Following Blaster Cleanup, I now attempt
to enter Word or Excel or PwrPnt and get error
that "installer patch" is needed. Original install disc is
not accepted. I down loaded the Installer Cleanup Utility
(msicuu.exe)and "cleansed" the old Office2k files. Still
no access, to above programs. Interesting that I can
launch Outlook and IE6 in spite of inital "Windows
installer- preparing to install" dialog which quickly
disapears?
I upgraded win2k os to SP3
I upgraded OfficeXP to SP2

Messages suggest I go to the OfficeXP vendor....Purchased
direct from CompUSA so shouldn't MSoft be able to help?

Now, after attempting to REMOVE OfficeXP Std, it won't let
me proceed due to request for the INSTALLER PATCH. and it
won't read the Install CD.
There has to be a fix for this??
