office xp intermittent working enter key

Intermittently I have a problem with the enter key
returning to the next line when typing. I have tried a
different key board and the same thing happens. When the
enter key does not function I have to restart the
computer and then it will work for awhile. This is a
daily problem for me. Does anyone have any suggestions?
