Office XP - OL folder titles truncated

T

t. wise

Just upgraded to OfficeXP Pro 2003. In the Navigation Pane of Outlook I show
the Folder List. Some - not all - of the folders have slightly truncated
titles.

"Contacts" shows only the left half of the final s.
"Junk E-mail" reads "Junk E-mai"
"Outbox" has only the left half of the "x".

But a long folder title like "Search Folders" shows up fine.

This has happened to some of the folders I created myself, and I was able to
fix it by simply right-clicking on the folder, choosing Properties, and
under the General tab deleting the name, hitting Apply, and then retyping
the name back in. After that, the names appear properly in the Folder List.
But this technique cannot be done to folders Outlook created, such as the
ones I listed above. (I can't change their names.)

Anyone know what I might be able to do to fix this?

tia,

1. There is no Office XP Professional 2003. It sounds like you have Office
2003.
2. Start Outlook one time with the /resetnavbar switch.
3. If neither of the above work, try creating a new mail profile under
control panel->mail icon->show profiles.

I tried starting OL with "/resetnavbar" and kept getting messages saying it
couldn't open the program with an invalid switch.

But opening a new profile worked, so I'll go with that.

Thanks.

So the /resetnavbar switch wouldn't work (error message said "Cannot start
Microsoft Office Outlook. The command line argument is not valid. Verify
the switch you are using.") I was using:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\OUTLOOK.EXE" /resetnavbar

And making a new profile worked ... at first. After I closed the program
and re-opened it later, I found the same truncated letters on some folders.

Weird.
