office XP on new vista machine

Just received new laptop with vista and trial office version ???.
I have an older office XP (version 1). Tried to install and
laptop say it was successful. However, I cant find it on the
laptop . Only office that I can find is the trial version that
came with the laptop.

Questions can I use office XP with vista, what happened to the
install of Office XP I cant find it (I am very new to Vista and am
suffering the learning curve pain) or should I remove the trail
version of office that came with the laptop then install office XP
(version 1). I know XP version 1 is old but...

While there are issues with Office XP in Vista, some have
used it without any issues.

If you didn't uninstall the trial before installing XP that
may be the problem. Look in Add/Remove to see if either the
XP or Trial version (2007) of Office is there. If so
uninstall the XP first, then the 07 trial. Reboot the
computer and then reinstall the XP version.
