Office XP on Vista?

I have Office for Students and Teachers version 2002 working great on my
older computer. We just bought a new laptop with Vista. Can I easily load
Office XP onto the Vista machine and have it work correctly? The microsoft
"help" desk claims XP is no longer supported, that some parts are
incompatible -though she couldn't ntell me which parts wouldn't work- and
advised me to go to a help desk and pay for the help.

Does anyone know if I'm wasting my time trying this, and I should just buy
Office 2007?

Thanks

Yes, you can run Office 2002 on Vista without problems.

Assuming you have a retail copy, with the CD and the product key, just install
it normally. When you activate it, you might be instructed to call Microsoft --
just follow the instructions on the screen.

Office XP was out of mainstream support when Vista was released and was not
tested for compatibility.

If you find issues with Office XP (most notably Outlook not retaining the
password for e-mail accounts), it will not be fixed unless something poses a
security risk.
