Office XP Outlook Slow

D

Dave Widgery

Hi

I have recently upgraded my office from office 2K to Office XP, since then I
have found that Outlook is slow. I have my view set with a split screen to
display the selected message in the lower part of the window, since the
upgrade it takes 3-4 seconds before the message content gets displayed in
the lower window.

Although 3-4 seconds doesn't seem very much, it is an age when you are
trying to scan messages by stepping through them.

Before the upgrade the response was instant.

I have a 2.GHz P IV with 1 Gb of memory, so it should not be due to lack of
performance.

Any Ideas

Dave

Try disabling the integration with Instant Messenger in Tools | Options
| Other and see if that speeds things up.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? I have been suffering for a
few weeks now since foolishly applying patches and upgrades.

My PC is a dual boot. I have left the 2000 side alone (with respect
to upgrades and patches). I have no lack-of-speed issue when booted up
into that OS. But the XP side is horrible. And unfortunately I am
usually booted up into XP.
