office xp. outlook with msn messenger problem

Andy

I have installed msn messenger 6.0. I have been unable to
remove the old msn messenger using the sysoc.inf file. I
have since installed office xp and I want to use the msn
messenger service in outlook.

the problem is that when i do activate the msn messenger
part of outlook it opens the old 4.7 messenger. this is
also a problem because of virus issues with this version
of messenger.

could someone tell me how to remove the old msn messenger
and link the 6.0 version with outlook in office xp

You are confusing the Windows Messenger (4.7) and MSN Messenger(6.0x). See
the MSN site for assistance.

Hi Milly.... i was just about to post this same question.... i've peeked
around the (support-less) MSN site, and I can't seem to figure out the
difference between the two, or even figure out why Windows Messenger
has to open every time I start up Outlook 2003.

can you provide a bit more explanation or maybe point me to a direct
link?

thanks.

Tools, Options, Other, remove the check next to Enable Instant Messaging in
Outlook.
