Office XP performance

Since replacing Office 2000 with Office XP my Word
performance is very poor compared to 2000. I selected the
option to remove Office 2000 when installing. Office 2000
Developer was left by setup. Running under Windows 2000
Professional. Under Program Files I have an Office and an
Office 10 subfolder for office programs. Is this normal?
