office xp pro 2002 validation isn't recognized

How can Microsoft block a product key that is on a geniune Office XP Pro CD?
Is there a way to correct this false negative for this Office product? It
is an older version on a new XP computer but it is genuine and should not be
blocked by Microsoft.

The exact error messege is "The Product Key used to install office has been
blocked by Microsoft."

The problem may be that there was a trial version of Office 2003 on the Dell
computer which was uninstalled before installing the XP pro version. How can
I correct this. Is this a Dell issue?

Hi Sarah,

If you are gettng an error that your key is blacklisted and you do not
believe this to be true, please contact microsoft at 800-936-4900. Tell them
you product key is blacklisted on the activation site. They should be able to
verify your key, and if needed they can provide a new key.
