Office XP Pro activation

I have Office XP Pro installed and activated but wanted to
uninstall and install Office 2003 Pro. I want to give my
Office XP Pro version to a friend but am unsure if he will
be able to install it since it was activated on my
machine. To be clear, I do not plan on using it again and
will give him all the original CD's, EULA, box, etc and
just want to know what steps need to be taken to
deactivate Office on my machine so that he can activate it
on his. I am not sure if a simple uninstall will do this.

After you have uninstalled it and given him everything, when he installs
he will need to use the telephone method of activation to turn it on.

Bob is correct if your Office 2003 Professional is not an upgrade version.
If you are using Office XP as a qualifying Product to install Office 2003
upgrade, the Office XP remains part of the license for Office 2003 upgrade.
I think {but am not sure} that you could do what you suggest if you use
another product {such as Works} as the qualifying product for Office 2003
upgrade.
