I've just received Microsoft Office XP Professional from
the Microsoft Home Use Program, and have installed on a
standalone desktop. Other than OUTLOOK, the other apps
work just fine.
When I open OUTLOOK, it asks for the POSTOFFICE,
MAILBOX, AND PASSWORD. The application HELP isn't any
help. What are these, and where do I find out what to put
in these areas? I use a dial-up connection. I currently
use Outlook Express 6 for email.
I've tried to click the WORK OFFLINE button, then get an
error message saying that it did not open correctly
lastime, would I like to open in "safe mode". I click
yes, then it gives a popup to send error message to
Microsoft, which I've done. It then closes the program.
It also gives a popup "Configuring Outlook". (Migrating
Preferences, Creating Welcome Message, and Importing User
Data). But that's all I get. I did have Microsoft OFfice
97 on this computer, previously, but never used OUTLOOK
for email. When I installed XP Pro, I told it to delete
previous Office Apps. The other apps seem to work fine,
it's just OUTLOOK that I've never gotten to launch
successfully.
I've also done the "Repair" option, twice now, but still
get the same problems. I'm running Windows 98 on this
machine. Thank you.
